+We’ve talked a lot about the increasing spate of fires related to light electric vehicles, including e-bikes, e-scooters, and other micromobility devices. But one Southern California-based e-bike company is now doing something about it by upgrading all of their batteries with UL certification. Juiced Bikes is now one of the few e-bike companies to offer UL-listed batteries, though the number is slowly growing.
+It’s important to remember that the fire risk in electric bikes is incredibly low. There are millions of e-bikes in the US, but just 200 fires were reported from e-bike batteries in 2021 and 2022.
+Even so, the few fires that have been reported can spread quickly due to the nature of Li-ion battery fires, which burn much more intensely than a traditional fire.
+There is currently no state or federal requirement in the US for e-bikes to come with safety certification for their batteries. That is why many in the industry are urging electric bike manufacturers to voluntarily undergo such certification.

+Juiced Bikes, the much-lauded Southern California electric bicycle maker, appears to have been sold at auction for around US $1,225,000.
+Or at least the company’s branding, intellectual property, remaining inventory and assets have been sold, with the actual status of the company still somewhat unclear.
+While we still don’t have any official confirmation from the company, Juiced Bikes’ website has been out of stock for weeks and customers have been complaining that the company has gone radio silent with them.
+When we recently reported on the apparent financial duress and potentially pending closure of the company last week, Juiced’s assets had just been put up for auction, removing what little doubt remained about the direction that the famed brand was headed.

+The newly revived company, now backed by the same leadership team behind Lectric eBikes, has just launched Juiced Powersports, a new expansion focused on high-performance electric off-road motorcycles. And its first model, the Juiced Nomadix, looks like it’s a shot across the bow of the Sur Ron-style market with pricing that could seriously shake things up.

+The Nomadix starts at just $2,499, yet the specs read more like a bike several thousand dollars more expensive.

These new rides seem to be following the usual Lectric playbook of offering discounts on the bundled gear rather than the e-bikes themselves, with these bundles including a personalized nameplate, a headplate, a bar bag, a bar pad, a fender set, and a sticker pack.

+The announcement comes just weeks after Juiced unveiled the new Scrambler Hardtail and Scrambler Full Suspension models, two moto-style electric bikes that represent the company’s first major product launch since returning to the market.
+The pre-order period appears to be over, and customers can now actually order and receive the bikes rather than simply reserve them. It also serves as another sign that Juiced’s comeback is moving forward quickly.
